"No-Cooking" Real Milk Ice Cream in a Pineapple

1_2 Did you know Raw Milk is Safe? It shocks me that most of the people world wide have never had a taste of this precious food. When pasteurization became the rule, it happened because the unhealthy and unsanitary conditions of the farm caused milk contamination. Now, with all the technology, specialized equipment, and sanitary regulations at the milk farms, there is NO need to pasteurize or homogenize the milk...Then, why?

Please visit the  Real Milk website, sponsored by the Weston A. Price Foundation, to learn more about the health benefits of raw milk. They have an index showing by state where you can find raw milk and raw milk products in your area. A list of great articles and bestsellers books on the subject are offered. One of my favorite books is The Milk Book, by William C. Douglass II, MD.

I am seriously thinking about getting my two cows :)

Now, the following recipe is to prepare a delicious "no-cooking" real milk ice cream in a pineapple----YUM!

My friend Caroline asked if the icecream can be made with raw honey!!! I feel the same way: it's hard to get away from sugar! I would think, YES. Just add raw honey to your liking :)

Now you have taken me back to when I was a kid growing up on a farm. I never had anything but raw milk. We also had a separator, which we used to separate the milk from the cream. One of my chores was to take the cream and churn it into butter. And you are right. There is nothing like fresh homemade ice cream made from raw milk. I can taste it now!

Melissa,
I have honestly never tried raw milk, but I'm going to see if I can find it here...I bet I can, and I'll let you know what I think! Thanks for the awareness on the subject. The pineapple display for this ice cream is gorgeous and lucky me I just got an ice cream maker!

I grew up drinking raw milk in the Beaujolais. I'm sure it made me healthy and strong. Like most families in the village we did not have a frigo either.

Don, Michelle and Farid: thank you for your visit. I do believe raw milk is one of the best natural foods and such a rich ingredient to make all kind of delicious things :)
I am right now traveling through Ecuador, researching on Andean cookery and plants. I will be back home in my kitchen and my puter next week. I will keep you posted. Hugs!

Raw milk with raw honey when mixed together immediately before drinking are excellent; but not something you want to mix and consume days later. Raw honey actually has attributes that love to grow out of control in raw milk to the point where the mix can be unhealthy. If you want a natural sweetener to add to raw milk for things like ice cream, choose maple syrup.

re: the person who commented about e.coli in raw milk... none of my monthly milk samples tested by WSDA Food Safety have found even one coliform of any kind, pathogenic or otherwise, in my Rainhaven farmstead microdairy naturally whole Grade A Raw goat milk! It is also screened specifically for e.coli, salmonella and listeria (none of those have been found either).

Please ask PCC / Elin Smith to reconsider her decision rescinding her agreement to accept my Grade A Raw goat milk at their eastside stores, just because my production is too small to fully supply all 8 PCC stores with all the raw milk they may want. Small is beautiful! Wouldn't it be great to have a selection of various breeds' milks from local microdairies, like having a farmers market in France! I live only 12 miles from the Redmond store; how much more local could I be? Now that they have decided to take goat milk only from Grace Harbor Farms (located north of Bellingham), PCC is absconding with the customers I developed since getting licensed last August. I love my goats and just want to be able to keep them.

is there a receipe to make ice cream with raw milk? all i have is using half and half and 2% milk. i want to make ice cream with the fresh milk that nothing has been done to it. please help me out and send me a receipe for this.

thanks
